If you run your business on Xero, this is the most useful thing Claude does for you right now. You stop exporting reports into spreadsheets to answer a simple question.
How do I connect Xero to Claude?
- In Claude, open the connector directory and find Xero.
- Click Connect and sign in with your Xero login.
- If you run more than one Xero organisation, pick one.
- Click Allow.
It works on any Xero business plan. Claude connects to one organisation at a time, so a bookkeeper switches clients by disconnecting and reconnecting.
What can Claude do with Xero?
Claude reads four areas of your Xero data: revenue and profit, what you're owed and what you owe, your cash and financial position, and your invoices. Ask with a time period or a name and the answers sharpen up:
- "Which invoices are more than 30 days overdue, and who are they from?"
- "How does my cash position compare to this time last year?"
- "What were my five biggest expenses this financial year?"
Claude can't change anything in Xero. It reads, answers and links you to Xero Analytics. If a figure looks stale, open Xero Analytics from the link in the answer, refresh it and ask again.
Which Claude plan do I need?
Pro, at US$20 a month or US$17 a month billed annually, is the right start for an owner. The free plan connects Xero too, but it misses the Small Business plugin and limits you to five Projects.
With two or more people, go to Team, from US$20 a seat a month billed annually. You get central billing, shared projects and control over which connectors staff can switch on.
Is my Xero data used to train Claude?
Xero says data accessed through the connector isn't used to train Claude's model. Your chats are a separate setting. On Free, Pro and Max, turn off model training in Settings under Privacy before you discuss clients or staff. Team and Enterprise chats aren't used for training.
Add the Small Business plugin
Anthropic's Claude for Small Business plugin turns your Xero data into finished work: a one-page business snapshot, a 30, 60 and 90-day cash flow forecast, a recurring report and invoice reminders drafted for you to check and send. It needs Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise.
